Obituary

Woody J. Johnson, in the early morning hours of August 12, 2007, Woody passed from earth to his Heavenly Home. He was born February 18, 1935 to the late Sidney and Daisy Johnson. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis; one son, Juan and 4 brothers, Ernest, Dewey, Tommy and Robert. Woody, retired from Rock-Tenn, and was a member of First Baptist Church-Coolwell, where he was member of the Men Chours. Woody was a devoted guitar player for Otterville Baptist Church Choirs and Gospel Fellowship Temple in Bedford County.
He leaves behind his wife, Mary Johnson; sons, Hayward, Anthony, Ronnie and Matthew; daughters, Patience and Patrice; one brother, Early (Marion) Johnson; four sisters, Daisy (Reuben) Jones, Rosa Brown, Carrie L. Clark, all of Amherst and Nancy Johnson, of Richmond; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 23 nieces, 10 nephews; a devoted friend of the family Cheryl Reid and other relatives and friends. A special thanks to Gail Warrick for her devotion during time of need (illness) and to his friends at Hardee's. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at First Baptist Church-Coolwell, with Rev. Charles Frye officiating and Rev. M.D. Mays as eulogist. The interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Woody will lie in state one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the residence, 133 Sidney Drive, Amherst.
