Obituary

Mrs. Willie Mae Jones Scott, "MaMae" of Lynchburg passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 peacefully at her home. She was born on September 23, 1939 and was born to the late William J. Jones and Betty Lou Spinner Jones in Bedford County and she graduated from Dumbar High School, in Lynchburg Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James M. Scott; two sisters, Nellie McCray and Deloris Brice and one brother, Joe Louis Jones. She joined Lawyers Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as secretary for many years.
She loved God, her family and her friends dearly.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Marvin Scott (Laverne), of Maryland, James Scott (Teresa), of Richmond, Marlo Davis (Bobby), Warren Scott (Bonnie), of Lynchburg, Lewis Elliott ,of Richmond and Lorenzo Elliott (Sara), of Martinsville; a god child, Cheryl Johnson Sales, of Lynchburg; sixteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Davis, of Lynchburg and Mrs. Ernestine Scott, of Rustburg; one brother, William Wallace Jones, of Washington, DC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be 1:00 PM Friday, April 14, 2017 at Lawyers Missionary Baptist Church, 225 Missionary Manor with the pastor, Rev. Carlton T. Johnson, officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-8 PM at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com.
