Obituary

Our Heavenly Father called William "Cliff" Megginson home on January 5, 2007 after along illness. Cliff as he was affectionately known was born October 18, 1909 to the late Norvell and Maggie M. Megginson in Appomattox County.

Cliff served his country during World War II serving in the U.S Army and retired from Roanoke County Public Schools after many years of services as head custodian. At an early age he join Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Concord and later joined First Baptist Church of Hollins, Roanoke County.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Helena Megginson; two brothers, Ollie Megginson and James Megginson; one nephew, Victor Megginson.

He is survived by his caring devoted niece, Virginia Pitts, Queens, NY; one brother, Norvel Megginson, Appomattox; devoted and very caring caregiver, Jean M. Cobbs, Lynchburg and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. The family will like to thank Jean Cobbs for her loving care giving to William "Cliff" Megginson for so many years.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at First Baptist Church, Hollins Roanoke County with Rev. Harvey Saunders officiating and Rev. Joseph Keaton as Eulogist. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Concord VA. The family will receive friends Monday from 7-8 at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and also 30 minutes before service on Tuesday and other times at the residence of Jean Cobbs, 1003 Brentwood Ave. Lynchburg.
