William "Billy" Anthony departed this life on Saturday, August 31, 2019.  He was born on June 20, 1928 to the late Samuel and Sarah Anthony.  He was married to the late Mary Frances Anthony.  He was also preceded in death by one brother, two sisters and two nieces.

"Billy" retired from The City of Lynchburg.  He attended school in Campbell County Billy joined Silver Grove Baptist Church, which was his family church and was baptized at an early age.

Billy loved baseball and played semi-pro baseball for a while.  He continued to play until his age would no longer allow him to.  He enjoyed going to the games in Lynchburg and watching it on television.  Billy was a family man that took care of family.  He was one of the nicest persons you could ever meet.  Billy and his wife raised numerous children in their lifetime.  No one was a stranger in his home.

Billy is survived by a devoted step grandson and care giver, Harold Jones, Lynchburg, Va.;  two sisters, Alease Anthony and Ann Reid, both of Rustburg, Va.; stepson, William Flowers; eight step grandchildren, Crystal Ware, Ronald Jones, Tracie Hendrick, Corey Jones, Angela Flowers, William Flowers, Jr., Doreatha Douglas, and William Anderson; a number of step great grands and great-great grands and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
