Obituary

Warren L. Watkins, 88, of Concord, VA, gained his wings to is heavenly home on February 03, 2022.

He was born on May 11, 1933, to the late Louis Andrew Watkins and the late Willie Louise Daye Watkins. He attended Carver Price High School in Appomattox, VA; he accepted Christ at an early age, and he was a faithful member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he enjoyed singing on the senior choir for many years. He served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He retired from Lynchburg Foundry after working 37 years and Campbell County School Systems after working 27 years.

Warren enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows such as: Let's Make a Deal, Wheel of Fortune and the Wrestling. He also enjoyed spending time outside working in the garden, watching the Dallas Cowboys games, and spending time with family and friends, especially dancing, "doing the Electric Slide."

He was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Pendleton, Sylvester, Nathan and Charles; sisters-in-law, Margaret Watkins, Martha Watkins, Virginia Watkins and Lois McCoy; and brothers-in-law, Woodson McCoy and John McCoy.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of sixty years of marriage, Daisy; a daughter, Marlene (Michael) McIvor, of Concord, VA; a son, Leon (Tammie) Watkins, of Spout Spring, VA; seven grandchildren, Allonte', Dionna, Amayah, Michael, Jr., Schawanda, William and Shontajia; four great-grandchildren, Zayden, Syncere, Tramere and Brielle; four godchildren, Tareq, Ashley, Jonathan and Madison; a brother, Harry Watkins, of Concord, VA; three sisters-in-law, Velma Watkins, Mamie Watkins, both of Concord, VA and Doris McCoy, of Spout Spring, VA; two brothers-in-law, Melvin (Amanda) McCoy, of Lynchburg, VA and Augustus McCoy, of Appomattox, VA; a host of nieces and nephews, Lequetta Robinson-Hayes, Kristy Robinson-Lee and Karen Robinson, (who were like daughters to him); special friends, Rowena Robinson and Donald Franklin; his Concord School family; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00PM Wednesday, February 09, 2022. At Davis-Turner Chapel, Lynchburg, VA with the Rev. Donald Foster, Officiating and Rev. Charles Frye, Eulogist. The interment will be in the McCoy cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 08, 2022, from 6-7PM at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Condolences may be sent to www.Davis-Turner.com .
