Vincent B. Sales, Sr., 80 of 144 Mountainview Drive Madison Heights, VA departed this life at Lynchburg General Hospital. Vincent was born on April 9, 1932 to the late Frank and Lula Sales.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mare Jane Sales of 59 years; a son Vincent B. Sales, Jr. and a daughter, Henrietta B. Sales.
He joined Rose Chapel Baptist Church at an early age and was an active member of the Men's Chorus and Combined Choir until his health failed him.
He joined the US Army in January 1953 and attained his corporal rank and received an Honorable Discharge in December 1954.
A retired brick mason, Vincent worked in Lynchburg and surrounding counties, Washington, DC and Maryland for more than 50 years. An avid baseball fan, his favorite teams were the Texas Rangers and the Cincinnati Reds.
He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Joyce S. Johnson of Lynchburg and Vanessa S. Ferguson (Manley, Jr.) of Concord; three sons, Norman B. Sales, of Richmond, Arthur B. Sales, Sr. Andrew B. Sales (Denessa ) of Madison Heights; nine grandchildren, Carlitta Johnson, Cheree Holland (Joseph), Manley Ferguson III (Shanta), Arthur Sales, Jr., Antwan Sales, Denise Ferguson, Adrain Sales, John Sales and Elijah Sales; ten great-children; one sister Antonia J. Lewis, of Eugene, Oregon and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Davis-Turner Funeral Service with Rev. Hamlet, officiating. The interment will be in Rose Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
