On Monday night, May 20, 2019, God called his servant home.  Mrs. Vergie Campbell Wood was the second oldest child born to the late Edward Campbell and Josephine Puirl Campbell on September 16, 1923, in Lynchburg,Virginia. She resided for the past 12 years at the Summit Health and Rehabilitation Center, where she was well cared for by their supportive staff. For most of her last 5 years of life, she was visited and fed breakfast daily by her loving son, George Napier, who started her day with laughter, conversation and even songs.

She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Addison Saunders Wood,(SGT., United States Army); two brothers, Warren and Herbert Campbell; and five sisters, Pearl Cardwell, Myra Bates, Steva Burton, Rosetta Andrews and Arlene Boozer.

She is survived by two daughters, Loleta Foster (Benny) and Wynella Myers, all of Fayetteville, NC; three sons, George Napier (Susie), Addison Wood, all of Lynchburg, VA, and Vorden Wood (Barbara) of Ft. Washington, MD; a host of devoted grandchildren and great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, all of whom are wished a life well lived!

A funeral service will be held 12:00 noon at St. James CME, Lynchburg with Rev. Watts, officiating.  The interment will be in Archer Creek Burial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends 6-8:00 PM at Davis-Turner Funeral Service.  Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
