Obituary

Her earthly journey has ended, she has taken her place in one of God's holy mansions.

Sister Vercina Haynes-Douglas departed this life on July 16, 2021, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Dillwyn, VA.

She was born to the late Victor and Mabel Richardson Haynes of Amherst, VA on July 26, 1931.

Sister Vercina accepted Christ at Piney Hill Baptist Church at an early age. She loved the church. During the years she served as a member of the senior choir, Busy Bee Circle, and Gospel Choir. She retired from Central Virginia Training Center with 18 years of service.

She was also preceded in death by 6 brothers, Norman Lee, Robert, Eldridge, Sam, Frank and Lloyd Haynes; 2 sisters, Berline Haynes and Louise Richardson; devoted brother-in-law, Jersey Douglas; devoted friend, James Henry Richardson; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

She took great pride in her home, enjoyed the company of her family and friends and of course the love of her beautiful flowers.

During her early life she found the love of her life and married the late Glen Harrison Douglas, Sr. To this union they were blessed with 3 devoted children. Sister Vercina leaves behind to cherish her memory 1 son, Glen Harrison Douglas, Jr.; 2 daughters, Delois Hendrix (Douglas (d.)); Berlina Davis (Maurice, devoted son-in-law) all of Amherst; a devoted and caring sister, Doris Douglas.

The love of her life 6 grandchildren, 2 devoted, Carlos Hendrix (Myia) and Natasha Hendrix, Libra Fraser, Michael Rucker, Lexus Paige and Cerrone (Sara) Davis; 4 great-grandchildren, Cayden Hendrix, Camia Hendrix, Trai Davis, Makayla Davis; 2 great-great grandchildren, Trai Davis, Jr. and Anovah Davis; 3 brothers-in-law, Joe (Florence), Roy (Mae) and Eugene (Sophie) Douglas; 3 sisters-in-law, Sadie Douglas, Shirley Dawson and Pauline (Leonard) Dawson; and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own, other relatives and friends.

A service will be held 2PM Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Piney Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ernest P. Scott, Eulogist. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
