Obituary

Mr. Thurman Edward Woodson was born August 17, 1964, in Lynchburg, Virginia and departed this life on January 02, 2022. He was a member of First Baptist Church South Lynchburg and an associate member of Faith Assembly Christian Church, a member of The Sensational Highlites, a member of The Wiseman Car Club, and was also a faithful employee and graduate of Central Virginia Community College.

Thurman was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Woodson and his father, Thurman Burger; a sister, Lily Mae Woodson; brother-in-law, Joe Henry; son, Quintlan Ferguson; and son-in-law, Omar Goode, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Woodson, of Lynchburg, Virginia and his children, Antonio, Tiffany, Eric, Cecelia, Deshawn, Brian, Catrice, Dontae, Markye, Tonnette, Keshana and Brandon; 26 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mable, Bertha, Barbara, Valerie and Ella; brothers, George, Eli, David, Robert (Bob), Lonnie, Clarence and extended brother, Jon Christopher; special Mother figure, Pastor Ruth Massie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Thurman dedicated his life to helping others and keeping his family together. Though Thurman was small in stature; gigantic was his faith and love for the Lord. He loved his wife, children grandchildren, siblings, family and friends. Just when you thought that you were encouraging him, he ended up encouraging you. Thurman had a passion for Mustangs and took special time to customize his candy apple red convertible to an outstanding showpiece that he would showcase in car shows. He also was a skilled tradesman and committed to restoring, remodeling and painting homes throughout central Virginia. Thurman had a newly found talent that he had just recently shared which is acrylic artistry and still life drawings.

He was a very talented chef who hosted many of the family gatherings. He delighted in seeing his family together having a wonderful time that included enjoying laughter, food and fellowship. Thurman had a green thumb and could take a twig and root it to health.

Thurman was a pillar to The Wiseman Car Club, he liked getting together and taking scenic drives throughout Virginia and surrounding States. There was no dirty car left behind if your car wasn't clean, he would clean it himself and o-wow, could he detail a car.

We loved Thurman and he will be dearly missed. We'll carry the precious memories forever in our hearts.

A celebration of Thurman's life will be held 1PM Monday, January 10, 2022, at First Baptist Church-South Lynchburg. Interment will be in the Baptist Cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral service.
