Obituary

Thurman Lee Rose, 78, of Lowesville, VA departed this life on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born March 20, 1944, in Amherst County, VA, a son of the late Reverend Floyd and Josie Rose.

Thurman was known by his many friends as, "Coochie." He accepted Christ at an early age and joined St. Peter's Baptist Church. He graduated from Central High School. He worked at Delta Star for 40-plus years prior to his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Melvin, Abraham, Floyd, Alboyd, and Marshall Rose; four sisters, Geneva Thomas, Mary Ann Rose, Darlene Johnson, and JoAnna Lewis.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Juanita S. Rose; two daughters, Paula and Kelli; one grandson, Kareem; one sister, Clarine Jefferson of Lynchburg; one uncle, Larnell Rose (Geneva) of Amherst, VA; two brothers-in-law, Reverend Dorn H. Lewis of Madison Heights, VA; Douglas Mack Smith of Amherst, VA; two sisters-in-law, Edith and Hazel Smith of Lowesville, VA; two devoted nephews, Oscar and Leroy Thomas of Clifford, VA; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service with Pastor Eddie Fletcher as Eulogist. The family requests that only houseplants be sent and that they be sent directly to the home. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
