On the morning of January 9, 2021, after a brief illness the Lord saw that his son, Our Father, Husband, Uncle, Brother and Friend Thomas, was getting tired and called him home.

Thomas Hudson Thornton, or as some would call him, "Tom" or "T.T.", was born on May 7, 1945 in Spout Springs, VA to the late Jasper S. Thornton and Princetta Miles Thornton. Sadly, his mother, Princetta, passed away during his birth. Shortly after, his father married Dorothy A. Thornton and he gained a mother who loved him unconditionally as her own. Dorothy A. Thornton gained her wings in 2018. Thomas was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Marvies Rose.

Thomas attended Carver Price School in Appomattox, VA. He joined the Promise Land Baptist Church and was baptized. Several years later he became a Deacon of the church. Tom worked at Aerofin as a welder for 36 years. He was a hard worker and had a passion for his tractors, lawn mowers and gardening. He would give anyone the shirt off his back. His laugh was infectious and smile contagious. Thomas' greatest love was for God and his family. He was a devoted and loving husband and father. He never met a stranger and was a friend to many.

Thomas leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife of 52 years, Theresa "Pat" Thornton; two daughters, Carmenlita (Arthur) Woodson of Pamplin, VA and Candace (Kehinda) Pryor of Illinois; four grandchildren, Rodriguez Woodson, Domonta Woodson, Deziyaire Thornton, Kacy Pryor; and two step grandsons, Layi and Elijah Pryor; one great-granddaughter, Saige Woodson; one brother, Samuel (Charlene) Thornton; two sisters, Laura Fleshman and the late Eloise Robinson; two sisters-in-laws, Oleada Washington and Phyllis (Rodney) Spinks; his late brother-in-law, James Rose; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
