On Monday, March 25, 2024, Thomas McDaniel, III, 79, departed this life at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on May 1, 1944, in Campbell County to the late Sara Jane Bennett McDaniel and Thomas McDaniel, Jr.

Th omas was employed at Lane Company in the early years of his life. He later worked for Delta Star, where he retired.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Mammie McDaniel; one aunt, Lena Stark; and five sisters, Christine White, Corrine McDaniel, Judy McDaniel, Rita Rosser, and Racheal Rosser.

Thomas leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Melinda Davis of Altavista, VA; one son, Thomas McDaniel (Monica); three step-sons, Michael Davis (Teresa) of Bedford, VA, Lamont Rucker, and James Rucker both of Lynchburg, VA; three brothers, Thomas Pete McDaniel of Appomattox, VA, Deroy McDaniel of Portsmouth, VA, and Roger Rosser of NC; two sisters, Shelia Skeeter and Ivetta McDaniel both of Portsmouth, VA; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Chapel Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
