Terry L. Smith, affectionately known as "Dinky Moon", was born on December 22, 1955, in Ohio, to the late Jimmy Lee Smith and the late Virginia Ann Gentry. He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Gentry.

Terry grew up and attended school in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he graduated from E.C. Glass High School. He joined the military and was a veteran of the United States Army. After his time in the military, Terry worked as an employee of Randolph Macon College and Flowers Baking Company, for over 30 years until his retirement.

He is survived by his children one son, Terry Lee Spinner of Lynchburg, VA; one daughter, Tiara LeeShay Smith of Brooklyn, NY; one grandchild; three sisters, Janet Turner, Joanne King, and Diane Jeffcoat; three special cousins, Barbara Jean Glass, Augustus Houston, and Jerome Houston; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
