Ted William Haynes, 71, of Amherst, VA, departed his life on Monday, April 14, 2025, surrounded by friends and family. He was born on November 9, 1953, to the late Frank and Patsy Haynes. Ted was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Sallie, Gloria, Doris Kay (Jasper), and Lillie, and 1 brother, Freddie Haynes (Faith).

Ted attended Amherst High School and was employed by K.E. Mays & Sons. He continued to work there for 41 years before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, talking trash, watching wrestling, spending time with friends and family and cheering on his Washington Redskins.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Haynes; and daughter, Ciarra Massie; 1 sister, Diane Coleman (Jimmy); 2 sisters-in-law, Lila Smith (belated, Elvin); Annie Reed (Robert); 3 brothers-in-law, Meredith Tinsley, Jr. (belated, Marcella); Ernest Tinsley (Sheila); and Robert Tinsley (Takia); and 2 devoted friends, Calvin Tinsley and the belated Elvin Smith; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A homegoing service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Interment will be in the Piney Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
