IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tearl
Martin
February 21, 1933 – September 8, 2020
On Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 12:05 A.M., while surrounded by her family, God came in and gave mother her wings. Mother peacefully slipped off into eternal life. God whispered into mother's ears and told her to come home and rest, your suffering is too much for you to bear my child. Come with me and drink from the fountain that will never run dry, where every day is Sunday. She was born February 21, 1933 in Amherst, VA, to the late Deacon Massie and Deaconess Mary Rhodes Martin. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the New Jerusalem Baptist Church and was a faithful member until the end of her illness. She took great pride in going to church as often as possible and would sometimes sing her favorite old hymns during church services. She sang in the church choir for a short period of time. One of her greatest desires was keeping the family cemetery groomed. She loved the lord and always put him first in her life. Her favorite music was Bobby Blue Bland and BB King. She loved having her family and friends over and going to her daughter Sharon and Son Barry's house on Sundays. She loved cooking and could make the best cheesecake ever. She was very overprotective of her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Mary Rhodes Martin, her son, William (Jack) Martin, Grandson, Quincy L. Casey; Ten sisters, Elizabeth Smith, Connie Rose, Sarah Anderson, Emma Henson, Mable Carpenter, Althea Rogers, Inez Rucker, Katherine DeQue McGilvery, Gay Hunter, one brother, Willie Massie Martin.
She leaves to mourn her children, Barbara Ann Martin of Madison Heights, VA. Phyllis M. Casey of Forest Heights, MD. David K. Martin of Lynchburg, VA. John F. Martin (Shirley) of Clinton, MD. We would like to thank our mother's caretaker, Althea (Snook) Rice for providing our mother with the best health care possible. Mother was so honored to have her as her health care worker and looked forward to seeing you during the early morning hours. We truly appreciate all the services you rendered her until the time of her death.
Mom's siblings and grandchildren: We thank you all for standing by mom during her sickness. It was sad to see her suffer but through it all, we stood strong and did whatever we could do to make her comfortable. We will forever hold you in our hearts02
