Tammy Michelle Johnson Patterson, age 55, of Lynchburg, VA departed this life on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born to John (Nancy) Martin and Sophia (Earl) Johnson Ferguson. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Earl Ferguson, father-in-law, David Patterson, Sr., mother-in-law, Hazel (Frances) Jones; two nephews, Anthony (Brian) Patterson and Shawn Johnson, Jr., paternal grandmother, Eunice Martin; paternal grandfather, John Martin, Sr.; and maternal grandparents, Lucille Moorman, and William Edward Johnson.

Tammy accepted Christ at an early age where she later joined Peaceful Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Mark Everhart. Tammy graduated from Heritage High School in 1987. She was employed at Kroger and then Lynchburg City School Administration until her health declined a little.

Tammy was the rock of her family, and she showed her love for them daily. She was a dedicated wife to Thomas, a protective mother to her children, and an exceptional grandmother to her grandchildren, plus some that just call her grandma. She had a special closeness with one granddaughter, Kaszmere Johnson whom she raised. Tammy loved life and enjoyed laughing and cutting up with family and friends.

Tammy leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Thomas Patterson, Sr., of 20 plus years; one daughter, Ebony Johnson; four sons, Jamall Randolph, Aubrey Coles, Thomas Patterson, Jr., and Troy Patterson all of Lynchburg, VA; 13 grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Charles) Morris of Lynchburg, VA and Doris (Marvin) Williams of Jarrett, VA; three brothers, John Johnson of Alexandria Bay, New York, Shawn (Carmella) Johnson, Sr., and Sam (Dawn) Johnson of Lynchburg, VA; 5 brothers-in-law, David Patterson (Thuy), James Patterson, Raymond (Lisa) Patterson, William Patterson (Deitra), and Robert (Debra) Nowlin; three aunts, Dorthey Martin, Niecy Martin, and Mary (William) Turner of Lynchburg, VA; four uncles, William (Lenora) Martin of Concord, Goomer (Glover) Martin, Cliff Martin both of Lynchburg, VA, and Frankie Johnson of Maryland; a host of nieces and nephews, a "special friend", Jackie Alexander, and many friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m Saturday, January 13, 2024, at New Dearington Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Forest Hill
