Shirley L. Johnson Pannell was born November 28, 1937 in Concord, Virginia to the late Lucille and Luther "Buster" Johnson. Shirley entered into eternal rest on October 5, 2020 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA with her son Thomas "Tim" R. Mack Jr. and daughter-in-law Teresa by her side.

Shirley was married to the late Thomas R. Mack Sr. and the late Clifton E. Pannell. She was also preceded in death by her brother Luther Johnson Jr., her daughter, Debra R. Mack and a sister-in-law Mary Johnson.

She is survived by her son Thomas R. Mack Jr. (Teresa), sisters Lovelean "Love" Williams of Mableton, Georgia, Dr. Phinnize "Penny" Fisher (Tony) of Duncan, SC, a brother Harold Johnson (Mary) of Johns Island, SC. three grandchildren Richard "Ricky" Mack, Jasmine Glaize (Chris), Tia Benefield (Tra) and a host of great grandchildren, family and friends.

Shirley was a faithful member of the Wingfield Baptist Church where she was a devoted member of the Sunday School. When her health began to fail, she attended Tree of Life Ministries or watched the Live Stream service.

Shirley graduated from Carver-Price High School in Appomattox, VIrginia.
She was employed at General Electric, American Filtrona Co. (in Richmond), Hills Department Store, and retired from J. Crew in 1999.

An outdoor graveside service will be conducted at the Lynchburg Baptist Cemetery located at 320 Wiggington Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501 on October 17, 2020 at 1:00PM. We do ask that you practice social distancing guidelines and use personal protection due to the current pandemic.
