IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley
Dickerson
July 12, 1948 – June 18, 2021
Mrs. Shirley Dickerson of Lynchburg, VA departed this life June 18, 2021. She was born on July 12, 1948.
The LORD is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside the still waters,
He restores my soul.
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name's sake .
On June 18, 2021, God sent his silent Angel to claim his faithful servant from labor to reward, our beloved, wife, mother, Nana, sister, cousin and friend, Deaconess Shirley Mae Turner Dickerson, daughter of the late David and Elynor Beverly Turner.
She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Scott Zion Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her health failed. When she could no longer make the commute, she attended Greater Peaceful Zion Baptist Church where Rev. Walter L. Randolph officiates, when she could.
She was the wife of Harvey Greer Dickerson, Jr. and from the union she was blessed with four children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Trina Dickerson Robertson; grandson, Brandon Malik Dickerson; four brothers, Linwood, Harry, Walter "Massie"; and Ronnie Turner; five sisters, Mary Crawley, Margaret Turner, Maggie Crawford, Marie Osborne, Nannie Jackson; and one sister-in-law, Mary Turner.
She leaves loving memories of her to be cherished by her children, Harvey "Pete" Greer Dickerson, III (Alice), Michael Shaun Dickerson (LaKeisha), Ebony Hope Dickerson (William Jones); grandchildren, Joshua Roach, Courtney Roach, Lauren Wansley, Spenser and Kendall Dickerson, Michael S. Dickerson, Jr., Trinity Glover, and Elaina Jones; a special niece, Anita Jackson Johnson; one sister, Evelyn Jean Jackson and three sisters-in-laws, Doris, Catherine "Kitty" and Sharlene Turner.
Shirley graduated from Central High School in Amherst County. She was employed at Lynchburg General Hospital, Meade Corporation and Central Virginia Training Center where she retired from. After retirement, she also did private sitting. Shirley loved attending church, cooking, traveling, shopping, playing bid whisk with her brother Ronnie, but most of all she was a Die Hard Washington Redskins fan.
She leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends, and children who loved her as their, Nana.
A celebration of Shirley's life will be held 1PM Friday, June 25, 2021, at Scott Zion Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
