On Friday morning October 18, 2024, Sharlene Rucker took her rest in the comfort of her own home surrounded by family.

Sharli was born April 5, 1955, to the late Maggie Johnson Sneed and Leroy Thompson.

She is survived and remembered by her loving and devoted husband, Alvin O. Rucker; her daughter, Tyara Barnes as well as son-in-love, Derrick Barnes. Also left to cherish her memories are her grandchildren, Madison, Nicholas, Jaison, Kenya, and Derrick, Jr.

Sharli will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Cynthia Lee and her brother, Charles Sneed. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her including her siblings in love, Kate Taylor, Ethel Rucker, John Rucker, and Lewis Rucker.

In addition to her parents, Sharlene was preceded to rest by her daughter, Aisia O'Neal Rucker; her siblings, Charita Sneed, Herman Sneed, Fletcher Rucker, Linda Martin, Tricia Rucker, and Charles Taylor.

Being an amazing singer Sharli enjoyed all kinds of music and the arts, but her greatest joys were spending time with her family. She was always ready with an encouraging word that would put a smile in your heart and bring joy to your day. She knew The Word and found real joy in sharing it.

Take your rest Wife, Mom, Sister, Grandmother, and Friend. Rest well in the arms of The Most High God.

Not goodbye…but until we meet again.

A service celebrating her life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Burial will be private. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
