God in his infinite wisdom knew her pain and suffering, so in the quiet, morning hours of Saturday, December 27, 2025, he sent his Sweet Angels to carry Savaukia home. While surrounded by loving family, Savaukia went into a rest that knows no awaking, except in the presence of God.

Savaukia was born into this life on December 07, 1949, in Lynchburg, VA, to the late Homer Capps and Martha Alice Carter Capps. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Thomas M. Capps, Sr., and Gerald Capps.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized, and became a member of the First Baptist Church of South Lynchburg. She was educated in the Lynchburg City School System. She was part of Dunbar High School Class of 1969, the last graduating class. She retired from Central Virginia Training Center.

Savaukia leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving and devoted husband, Bernard Monroe of Lynchburg, VA; a loving son, Bernard, "BJ" Monroe, Jr.; two brothers, Glenmore Carter (Lois) of Richmond, VA, and Will Capps (Pamela) of Lynchburg, VA; two nephews, Kyle Capps and Thomas Capps, Jr. both of Lynchburg, VA; niece, Qiana Latoya Harris of Lynchburg, VA; three sisters-in-law, Tracy (Curtis) Calloway, Janice Monroe, and Willie Monroe; five brothers-in-law, John (Mattie) Monroe, Tony Monroe, Darnell (Valeria) Monroe, Reverend Issac (Sandra) Monroe, and Charlie Monroe; one devoted niece, Nikita Calloway; cousins, Germaine Henderson (Van) of Leesburg, VA, and Monteray Frazier (Rudolph) of Fairburn, GA; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 2, 2026, at First Baptist Church South Lynchburg. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
