Sandra Charlene Hairston, of Lynchburg, Virginia was called to be with her Lord on Monday, October 30, 2023. She was born on May 18, 1953, to the late Mathew Cabler and Julia Walthall Cabler.

She joined Chapel Grove Baptist Church at an early age. Sandra was educated in the Campbell County Schools. She was employed by the Virginia Baptist Hospital and formerly employed by The Carrington Nursing Home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Barney Cabler.

Memories will be cherished by her loving and devoted husband, Spencer Hairston, Sr.; her son, Spencer Hairston, Jr.; four daughters, Valerie Cabler, Wanda Cabler, Shantel Hairston, and Shanetta Hairston; two sisters, Delphine Mickles and Jacqueline Cabler; one brother, Marvin Cabler; a special and devoted aunt, Verneice Cabler; an uncle, Alonzo Walthall; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; along with many other loving relatives and friends.

Sometimes it's hard to understand why some things have to be

But in His wisdom, God has planned Beyond our power to see,

So, looking back in tenderness, along the paths we've trod,

We cherish the years we had with you and leave the rest to God.

The Family

A homegoing celebration will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Chapel Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Hairston will be on view one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
