Samuel Warren Sorrells, Jr., 67, of Amherst County passed away on November 11, 2022. He was born to the late Samuel Warren Sorrells, Sr., and the late Carolyn Mason Sorrells. He was also preceded in death by his late wife, Jerry Gillispie Sorrells.

He worked 36 years at Archer Creek Foundry and 6 years at Flowers Bakery. He loved spending time with family, cooking on the grill, and going to drag races with his son. If you ever came over you would find him in his sitting room enjoying a Winston cigarette and a cold Miller High Lite. He was a great provider and worker, he loved and cared for his family and friends. He was a loving husband who cared for his wife in sickness and health.

He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Essie Sorrells; his son, Dustin Wayne Sorrells; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Sorrells; grandchildren, Devonte Wayne Sorrells, Alyssa Glover of Lanham, MD, Aaron Penn, and Selah Penn of Washington, DC; two daughters, Brenda Glover of Lanham, MD and Wendy Penn (Allen) of Washington, DC; one brother, Barney Sorrells (Lorraine) of Lamar, South Carolina; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a devoted ex-wife, Joyce B. Sorrells; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 17, 2022, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. A visitation will be held from 6-7 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Interment will be in the family cemetery.
