Russell A. King, Sr.
Russell Alexander King, Sr. passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2009. He was born February 3, 1951 in Louisa, Virginia, and raised by his mother, Betty Florene Hayes (deceased), and Bishop Rufus Hayes.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Glenda Seay King; son, Russell Alexander King, Jr., daughters Leslie Danielle King, Christa Nicole King, and Dewanna Leshay Baker; brother, Rufus Hayes, Jr. (Pamela); three sisters, Eleanor Aston, Diane Hayes, and Shirley Cook (John); brothers-in-law Lester Seay and Eric Seay; sisters-in-law Michelle King and Rosemary Hayes; four grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, church family, community and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Florene Hayes; father, Harry Burdell King, Sr.; and brothers Joseph King, Charles Hayes, and Harry King II.
A funeral service will be held 12:00 noon Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Charlottesville Church of Christ, 990 Fifth Street SW, Charlottesville, with Pastor Paul L. Kee, officiating. The interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 7-8:30 Pm at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and other 206 Yeardley Ave. Lynchburg.
