On Thursday, December 4, 2008 the life of Roy Lee Cabell closed on earth to blossom a new with God. The Lord called peacefully-he answered. The victory won, the battled ceased at the age of 56. He was born on February 9, 1952 in Amherst County Virginia to Mr. & Mrs. Williams & Abbie Cabell whom preceded him in death. He is a graduate of Central High School, class of 1969. He was employed at Rock Tenn for 24 years and later employed at J. Crew for 7 years. Roy attended Mt. Olive Baptist as a small child. He loved to be with friends, fellowshipping, playing cards, cooking out, and watching a Redskins Game. He will be remembered most for his smile, his laugh, his thoughtful unique Christmas gifts and his houseful of Redskin's paraphernalia. He leaves behind to mourn his memory his devoted, caring and supportive Fiance` Debra Matthews (Toni Matthews-daughter), a loving brother, William S. Cabell (Susan Cabell-wife), three nieces, one great niece, and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, devoted friends and a very special friend Bea Barbour.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Mount Olive Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Calvin Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Christian Aid Cemetery.
