Roy Norman Banks, Jr. of 485 Toytown Road, Amherst, VA slipped into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 14, 2009. He was a member of St. Peter Baptist Church in Clifford, VA. He retired from Burlington Industries. He was preceded in death by his parents, Madeline Watkins and Roy Norman Banks, Sr., his brothers, Roger, Charles Edward, and Donnell Banks. He is survived by his children, Maurice Braxton, Phillip Banks (Augusta), Charles Banks (Angie), Deanna Banks, Tracey Webb, and Mary Garland, 14 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his children and grandchildren, he is survived by four sisters; Ms. Lillie Jefferson, Ms. Thelma Jordan, Mrs.Mary McDaniel (Eddie), and Ms. Constance Canada; one brother, Mr. Ronald Lee Banks, all of Amherst, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 Sunday, July 19, 2009 at St. Peter Baptist Church, Clifford with Rev. Margaret Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 7-8:30 pm at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and times at the residence.
