Obituary

Roosevelt "Tootie" Rose, passed on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital at the age of 90. He was born on June 2, 1934, to the late William Henry and Carrine Rose.

Roosevelt accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Saint Mark Baptist Church where he served as a faithful member.

On October 4, 1958, he was united in marriage to Ernestine Sandidge Rose, and into this union, 3 beautiful daughters and 3 handsome sons were born.

Roosevelt retired from Verizon telephone company where he worked as a linesman. During his retirement Tootie enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and playing cards with his 6 good buddies.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth R. Rose (Juliet); his daughter, Juliet R. Tinsley (Daryl); two sisters, Mildred Rose and Louise Rose Dawkins; and four brothers, James Henry (Frances), Lovie Lee (Dora), Albert (Patricia), James Edward (Anna); and George (Claudia).

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife; two daughters, Deborah A. Rose and Wanda R. Moorman (Francis, Jr.); two sons, Vincent W. Rose, Sr. (late Dawn) and Tony R. Rose; one grandchild, raised as a son, Vincent W. Rose, Jr. (Crystal); loving daughter-in-law, Deborah Gayle Rose; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; his brother, Gilbert Rose (Patricia); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at St. Marks Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Rose family cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
