Robert Tucker, Sr. departed this life on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Sentara Bayside Hospital in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He was born May 7, 1935 to the late Otis Tucker, Sr. and the late Edith Helen Glover Tucker.
He became a baptized member of Lovingston Baptist Church at an early age and later affiliated with the Diamond Hill Baptist Church where he sang in the Men's Chorus and taught Sunday School.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Barbara Tucker; two children, Robert Tucker, Jr., Adrea Tucker Scott and husband William Scott Jr. of Madison Heights; one stepson, Elvin Smith and wife Lila Smith of Amherst, Virginia; two brothers, Otis Tucker, Jr., and wife Yvonne Tucker; and Melvin Tucker of Lynchburg, Virginia; one sister Margueritta Tucker of Westerly, Rhode Island; six grandchildren, Quintus Chilton, Andre Chilton, Omar Tucker, Dwayne Smith and wife Melissa, Tyrone Smith, Cole Hylton and wife Lauren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Diamond Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Charles Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the Briarwood Cemetery, Amherst.
