On Thursday, July 19, 2012, the life of Robert G. Richardson, 67, closed on earth and he began a beautiful new journey with God. Born October 20, 1944 in Amherst County he was the son of the late Ralph A. Richardson and Leora Simpson Richardson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Richardson, Jr. and Luther Richardson; one sister, Shirley R. McCray.
Robert leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 45 years, Jacqueline D. Richardson; three daughters, Marie Jordan (Joseph), Stella Richardson and Carol Richardson, all of Madison Heights; one step-daughter, Julianna Smith of Lynchburg; two granddaughters, Dominique Jordan and Bailey Wade; one step-grandson, Alvin Wright, Jr. and two step-great grandsons; he also leaves to mourn his memory three sisters, Rosetta Rucker (Edward) of Lynchburg, Mary Smith (Donald) and Ozelia Richardson, both of Madison Heights; mother-in-law, Annie B. Smith, of Lynchburg; three sisters-in-law, Alice Pannell (A.C) and Margaret Horsley (Melvin) of Lynchburg, Annie M. Smith, of Washington, DC and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center, special thank you to Dr. Kathleen Paul and the staff of Centra Hospice.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Monday, July 23, 2012 at Piney Hill Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Donald Rucker, officiating. The interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive at 186 Pinecrest Dr. Madison Heights. His remains will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service.
