Robert J. Miller, Jr. of Lynchburg passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at UVA Medical Center. He was born June 30, 1950 to the late Robert Jesse Miller, Sr. and Louise English Miller. Robert was a principal at Heritage High School from 2005 through June 2007 and was associate principal at the school beginning in 1991. Before that, he served as a teacher, coach and assistant principal at Rustburg High School, where his nickname was "Chief."
Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife Yvette H. Miller; his children, Mychal Miller(Vivian) and Adrienne Miller (Jessica); two sisters, Barbara Gentry and Deborah Harvey (Lonnie); two grandchildren, Corrine Saunders and Helen Tankersley; one uncle, Victor Miller (Anna); mother-in-law, Exie Henderson; sister-in-law, LaVerne Holland (Gary) and a host of nieces, nephews , other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Court Street Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Austin, officiating and Rev. Ernest Penn, II as Eulogist. The interment will be in Forest Hill Burial Park. The family will receive friends today from 6-8 PM at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and other times at the home. Robert will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Heritage High School, Robert J. Miller, Jr. Athletic Scholarships Fund.
