Robert "Bob" Lee, age 89, peacefully passed on February 18, 2022. He was born May 4, 1932, in Amherst, VA, and moved to Pittsburgh after an honorable discharge from the US Army where he was trained as a paratrooper and played on the regiment's baseball team.
He had many hobbies: golfing, hunting, gardening, and singing. Bob earned his living as a welder and was one of the first African Americans to join the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Union Local 154 in Pittsburgh.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Betty; 3 children, Donna Lee, Dana Lee, and Robert Lee; 2 grandchildren Maleeka Lee-Perkins and Naseem Lee-Perkins; a sister Martha Blair; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Payton and Alease Sandidge Lee, his brother Payton Edward Lee, and his sister Lucille Lee Rose.
A graveside will be held 1:00 PM Sunday at the Lee Family Cemetery with Rev. Rodney Sandidge, officiating. The family will receives friends Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM and family and friends may view from 12:00 Noon to 4:30 on Friday and 2:00 to 4:00 on Saturday.
