Obituary

Richard Edward "Pat" Sandidge, 76, departed this life on Monday, April 10, 2023, at his residence. Born in Amherst, VA in 1946, to Russell and Julia Lee Sandidge, both of which preceded him in death. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, Alex, Henry, and Marshall Sandidge, a sister, Gloria Jean Sales; and one brother-in-law, Paul (Sharon) Robertson.

During his formative years, he confessed and gave his life to Christ. He was baptized at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, in Amherst, VA. Richard (Pat) worked at Lynchburg Foundry for 17 years. When Lynchburg Foundry closed, he began working at Crozet in Crozet, VA. After a number of years working for Crozet, he began working at Georgia-Pacific in Big Island, VA. He worked for Georgia-Pacific, for 20-plus years, until his health failed, and he retired.

He loved fishing, watching westerns, car racing, and football (49ers). Richard enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. Richard married Lindell P. Robertson in 1994. He leaves to cherish his memories 5 children, Jennifer (Cornel) Campbell of Durham, NC, Cornell (Florence) Sandidge of Lynchburg, VA, Dinetta (Tracy) Smith of Grayson, GA, Latoya (David) Grooms of Madison Heights, VA, and Joshua Braxton of Amherst, VA. He also has 2 stepsons, Joey Robertson of Lynchburg, VA, and Mark (Courtney) Robertson of Smyrna, GA. He also leaves to cherish his memory 5 sisters, Jessie Canada, Victoria Morris of Amherst, VA, Julia Minnis of Madison Heights, VA, Hazel (Terry) Charlton of Rustburg, VA, and Phyllis Sandidge of NC; and 3 brothers, Mitchell (Mary) Sandidge of Lynchburg, VA, Donnie Sandidge of Amherst, VA, and Gregory (Christy) Sandidge of Madison Heights, VA. One sister-in-law, Fannie Sandidge of Amherst, VA; 3 brothers-in-law, John (Ethel) Robertson of Wytheville, VA; Gary Robertson of Texas, and Ronald (Nogjui) Robertson of Lynchburg, VA; one sister-in-law, Celisa Ford of Maryland; and one mother-in-law Earline Robertson of Texas.

Richard leaves 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 15, 2023, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
