Pastor Meredith Tinsley departed this life on Saturday, May 27, 2023, in the presence of his wife, Deborah, better known as D, to him and his daughter, Jackie. Meredith was born on April 21, 1936, to the late George and Alberta Tinsley.

Mr. Tinsley confessed Christ at an early age and joined Piney Grove Baptist Church.

Pastor Tinsley was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alberta Tinsley; his first wife, Fannie Brown Tinsley; two brothers, Vernis and John Tinsley; two daughters, Tonya Hillman, and Shontese Hillman; and one granddaughter, Shaniya Hillman.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Tinsley, better known as D; 4 daughters, Lila (Elvin) Smith, Annie (Robert) Reed, Sonya Hillman, and Jackie (Ted) Haynes; 4 sons, Robert (Takia) Tinsley, Meredith (Marcella) Tinsley, Jr., Ernest (Shelia) Tinsley, and George Hillman; 3 granddaughters, that they raised, Ashley Tinsley, Melissa Tinsley, and Tiffany Rucker; a devoted cousin/daughter, Daisy Haynes; his adopted son, Lashaun Moore; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and other family members.

Meredith loved to fish, camp, work on old lawnmowers, plant gardens, drive trucks, and build birdhouses. All will sadly miss him. He loved to preach and tell people about God. He was the Pastor at Galilee Baptist Church for 32 years.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 02, 2023, at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Tinsley Family Cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
