Rev. Jene Samuel Johnson, age 73, of 1720 Early Street, Lynchburg, VA walked into the presence of the Lord on Friday, April 29, 2016 at his home. He was born September 15, 1942 in Massies Mill, VA to the late Samuel and Virginia Johnson. He was a disciple of Pine Hill Baptist Church, a U. S. Navy Veteran and a retired employee of Aerofin Corporation. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Helen M. Johnson, his daughter, Treney L. Tweedy, three grandchildren, Kristofer J. Tweedy, Kouri C. Tweedy and Kolby S. Tweedy, two great-grandsons, Gnarly R. Tweedy and Simari Thompson, a sister, D. Arlene Blackwell, Forest, VA, a brother, Dr. George A. Johnson (Lora), Charleston, MS, a step-mother, Emma G. Johnson, Lynchburg, a step-sister, Joyce Brown (Jimmy), Amherst, VA, faithful brother-in laws and sister-in laws, James H. Mccoy (Audrey), Burnice Fuqua (Thomas), Bernice Crews, Leola McCoy all of Lynchburg, Joanne Otey (Ronnie) of Virginia Beach, VA, Frances Johnson, San Francisco, CA, Yvonne Coates, Colorado City, CO and devoted cousins Bernard and Bessie Oakcrum, Washington, D.C., plus a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Pine Hill Baptist Church, 1171 Thomas Nelson Highway, Arrington, VA with the Rev. Aaron Wade presiding. Viewing of Rev. Johnson will begin at 1:00 pm. Family and friends will assemble at 7123 Richland Drive, Lynchburg, at 12:55 pm for the processional to Pine Hill Baptist Church.
