Raymond Beatty, 64 of 192 Mansion Way Amherst passed away Friday, August 21, 2009 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born June 16, 1945 in West Virginia to the late Raymond C. Beatty Sr. and Ella Mae Turner Beatty. Raymond was a member of Bolling Hill Baptist Church and served on the Usher Board Ministry and served his country in the US Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Edward Beatty and one sister, Norma Jean Johnson. Those left to his memories are his loving wife, Barbara Beatty; one brother, Michael Beatty (Jackie) of Ithaca, NY; two brothers-in-law, Rayford Johnson, of Brooklyn, NY, Melvin Johnson, of Washington, DC; four sisters-in-law, Catheline Mitchell (Deacon William), of Amherst, Mary Carter, of Madison Heights, Anna Carter, of GA and Gloria Carter, of Jamaica, NY and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday August 28, 2009 at Bolling Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Jones, Sr. officiating and Rev. Robert Cabell as Eulogist. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Military rites will be given by the American Legion Post 16.
