IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peter-James
Givens
September 18, 1979 – September 4, 2021
Peter-James Givens was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on September 18, 1979. He is the beloved son of Rufus Norman Givens, Jr. and Sha'ron Givens. He departed this life on September 04, 2021, jumping into the victorious life with his Lord and Savior.
Peter-James met and married Valenchia Jackson and to this union, he leaves to mourn, one daughter, Genesis Givens and six sons, Freedom Givens, Truth Givens, Justus Givens, Kingston Givens, Onyx Givens and Shaan Ferebee-Givens (mother, Shanna A. Ferebee).
His early education began at Lynchburg Christian Academy, Brookville Middle School and Brookville High School where he graduated in 1997. He loved sports, "Go Eagles" and found his love in football. Jersey #1, he wore proudly as tailback and outside linebacker. His pride, "Bees We Are and Bees We Will Forever Bee."
He came to Christ at an early age, in his bedroom with his dad on their knees prayer. "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the Cross for my sins. Forgive Me! Come into my life. I receive you as my Lord and Savior".
During his life on earth, he worked many jobs and was a hard worker. He was real, respectful, outspoken, funny, a joker, gentle, and he loved his family. Yet, he struggled in and out of 'strongholds'. He heard many times, with that 'here we go again' look, "Ye know not what shall be on the morrow" (Peter-James) for what is your life?" It is even a vapor that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away".
I am hearing that deep, deep voice saying, "tell them mom" and be real, and keep it real! Addiction is real! Addiction is dark! Addiction can also lead to the road of death! If you today are walking the road of addictions, there is hope in Christ. You can find solid ground! In Christ you can fight the strongholds! The victory is yours! You have to want it! You have to receive it! You have a choice!
You have witnessed his struggles and strongholds! For God has given him freedom today. In Grace and Mercy, he walks now in freedom.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
