Obituary

On Sunday, November 19, 2006 as the church bells rung our beloved hero Trustee Percy Jones gracefully answered his call to glory.
On November 9, 1939 Percy Jones was born to the union of the late Linwood and Betty Randolph Jones, Amherst, VA. He was the eighth of thirteen children. He retired from Babcock and Wilcox after 20 years of service. He was the founder of P.Jones and SonTrucking. He served as a devoted chairman of the trustee board at St. Mark Baptist Church, Amherst and a dedicated and loyal trustee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Phil Jones, Lenwood Jones, three sisters, Dorothy Harris, Josephine Hughes, and Rosetta Harris He leaves to treasure his memories best friend and devoted wife Eva of 47 years. A very special place in his heart belonged to his children Rochelle Jones-Anyumba (George) Baltimore, MD, Felix Jones, Madison Heights, VA, Cheryl Jones Marlow Heights, MD, Jennifer Jones, Madison Heights, VA, Beatrice Booker (Sylvester) Amherst, Va and grandchildren Relante, Kyana, and Bianca Jones, Bijoana Booker, and Jaquan Wade. Three godchildren Trinita Harris-Dula, Lequoia Sales, and London Jones. Survivors also include five sisters, Alberta Godett Philadelphia, PA, Corlelda Burrell, Hoboken, NJ, Alice Riggins (Charles) Washington, DC, Frances Rose (James) Amherst, Va, Betty Jean Sales (Andrew) Amherst, Va, Georgia Jones Washington, DC one brother Henry Jones (Cynthia) Amherst, VA a loving mother-in-law Mary L. Smith. One sister-in-law Jonell Jones, one brother-in-law James Harris one aunt Cora Crawford many devoted and caring nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous community and church family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, November 24, 2006 at St. Mark
Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. J.L. Sandidge officiating and Rev. Michael Terry as Eulogist. Interment will be
in Randolph Family Cemetery. The Family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-9
PM at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and other times at the family residence 1866
