IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Pastor David
Preston Adams
February 10, 1978 – July 3, 2023
Pastor David Adams (Dave) was born on February 10, 1978, in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Lord called him from labor to reward on July 3, 2023.
He was educated in Campbell County Schools and E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, Virginia. He received an associate degree from Liberty University. Dave was a member of his high school football team. He loved him some football and he loved his Redskins. Dave had a personality that would light up a room. He was a very passionate person and didn't have a problem telling others how he felt. If he approved, he would tell you; if he didn't, he'd say, "That's dead". Dave was a skillful bass player and spent a good amount of time playing for the Bolling Hill Men's Chorus. He loved music and wrote many songs as God would give them to him.
Pastor Adams gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was a member of Mt. Zion Temple of Prayer Church under the leadership of Bishop Samuel Adams. As he journeyed on doing God's work he was ordained as associate minister under the leadership of Reverend Edward Jones of Bolling Hill Baptist Church. Moving forward in ministry he was ordained as an elder under the leadership of Pastor Irvin Ward of Bountiful Blessings C.O.G.I.C. He spent many years serving the community taking the gospel to the streets. You could often find him preaching the gospel on the streets of Lynchburg with his longtime friend, Minister Corry Hunt. Dave loved people. He served under the leadership of Pastor Turlyn Betterson of Victory Temple Deliverance Center in Camden, New Jersey. Pastor Betterson was his spiritual covering. He was installed as the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Buena Vista where he served faithfully for 2 years. Pastor Adams was employed by the City of Lynchburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bishop Samuel Adams and Missionary Lillie Adams; brother, Bruce Adams; sister, Sandra Adams; Maternal Grandparents, John and Katherine Davis; and Paternal Grandparents, Nathaniel and Mattie Adams.
He is survived by his children, DeAndre' Lavar Jones-Adams and Ke'Ziah Lanae Cabell; a devoted friend, Lois Thompson; his godmothers, Carolyn Carter, Elder Barbara Ward, and Clara Jones; Five brothers, Frederick Adams (Mary), Adolphus Adams (Gina), Anthony Adams (Charlotte), Randolph Adams, and Timothy Adams (Janice); Three sisters, Rosemary Adams, Josette Laney (Lorenzo), Angelique Peters (Jeffery); Three aunts, Gloria Summerville, Idalean Byrd (William), and Ernestine Sims; close nephew, Dana Adams; close cousin, Dwight Vaughn; Special niece, Aminah Betterson; and a host of relatives and friends.
