God's Beautiful light surrounded his servant Ossie C. Carter, on January 11, 2007. Ossie who with great faith courage, devotion and love; peacefully closed her eyes and responded to his call. Ossie was born on December 18, 1917 in Campbell County to the late Jasper N. and Martha Dixon Pettigrew.
Ossie was a curious child and could not wait until she was old enough to attend school. She received her education in Campbell County Public Schools.
Ossie's parents were faithful members of Mt. Peeler Baptist Church where she was introduced to the Gospel of Jesus Christ early during her young years where she become a member of Mt. Peeler Baptist Church.
Ossie touched many lives, and did all she could to help anyone in need family and friends alike. She was admired for her faith and participation in Bible Study, Sunday School and The Choir both in Baltimore at New Union Baptist and at Mt. Peeler Baptist Church in Concord VA, where she renewed her membership.
Ossie was a great lady and a loving mother. We will forever cherish the legacy she leaves us in unconditional faith.
Ossie was preceded in death by her husband Sylvesta S. Carter.
Ossie leaves to treasure her memory, eight children , Verna Juanita Tyler, Shirley A. Koonce, Patricia A. Mack, Nona C.Young, Sylvesta S. Carter, Jr., Larry V. Carter, Tyrone Carter and Glenda M. Carter; one step-son, Luther Beverley; She reared one granddaughter, Chante` Carter-Webb; three sisters, Helen Govan of Concord, Maxine Calloway and Elsie French of Baltimore, MD; 21 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Yvonne Edwards, Earnestine Carter, Viola Carter all of Concord and Geraldine Pettigrew of Concord and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
