Orlando S. Lacy joined her heavenly father Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Concord, VA. She was born to the late Talitha and Roy Lee Woodruff on September 20, 1914 in Bedford, County. Mrs. Lacy was married to the late Nathaniel H. Lacy, Sr. and through their union one son, Nathaniel H. Lacy, Jr. She was preceded in death by husband, Nathaniel H. Lacy, Sr.; son, Nathaniel H. Lacy, Jr.; brothers, Earnest and Leroy Woodruff; sisters, Hazel, Hermia, Dimple and sister-in-law, Pauline Burton.
Mrs. Lacy graduated from Fredrick Douglas High School and went on to study nursing and piano.
Mrs. Lacy worked for the Ambassador of Burma and Watergate Hotel while living in DC. She later moved back to Lynchburg and retired from Westminster Canterbury. She was a long time member of the Wingfield Baptist Church and served on the Senior Choir, Mass Choir, Ladies Circle, Sunday school and Mother of the Church.
She also played piano at Holcomb Rock Baptist.
Those left to cherish her legacy daughter, Arlandra L. Hall (Wendell) of Concord; grandson, Kevin T. Lacy, Sr. (Debra) of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Theodore Coates, III, Kiana Hall (Montez), Ol`ondo Hall; great grandchildren, Keven T. Lacy, Jr., Alexis Lacy, MoIana and Keilani Hamlet; sisters, Bertha Carter, Virginia Jackson and Catherine Carroll; brother, Robert Lincoln Woodruff and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
