Norvell Donnell Thurman, 70, of Lynchburg, VA departed this life on April 7, 2025, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. Donnell was born November 27, 1954, to late Mable Sandidge Thurman and the late Rudolph Thurman. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Doris Johnson, Helen Thurman, Patricia Osborne, and Phyllis Thurman; four brothers, Rudolph Thurman, John Thurman, Carl Thurman, and Ray Thurman; and two nephews, Bruce Osborne and Lawrence Johnson.

He is survived by the Love of his life, Frances Staples Thurman. Two sons, Stacey Thurman and David Spinner; his 10 nieces: Shirley (Ken) Early, Judy (Jeff) Martin and Rose Johnson, Diane Osborne, Tia Thurman, Ebony Thurman and Malina Essex, Tkeyah Thurman, Regina Essex, and Kyonna Thurman-Hart; three nephews, Early Ray Johnson, Carl Thurman, Jr., and Anthony Thurman; two sisters-in-law, Fawn Thurman and Valarie Thurman. His special girl, Daija Braxton and a host of great nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was blessed to have a best friend, Blair Fairbrother and the Jones Family from Coolwell were often visited and associated with old friends from his childhood.
