IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norvell Anderson,
Sr.
December 1, 1928 – January 14, 2022
Norvell L. Anderson, Sr. ( affectionately known as Rennie ) a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend transitioned from life to eternal life to be with Jesus Christ on Friday, January 14, 2022. He was born on December 1, 1928, in Amherst County, to the late Charlie and Mary Rose Anderson. He was baptized at an early age at Lovingston Baptist Church in Madison Heights, VA, and later joined his wife at Cross Road Baptist Church in Evington, VA, where he was an active member and sang on the men's chorus until his health begin to decline.
Norvell served in the armed forces at Fort Lewis in Washington State and was later employed by Glamorgan Pipe and Foundry where he retired. On February 16, 1954, he married the love of his life, Kerine Jenkins. They were married for 67 years and were the loving parents of five children. Through the years they also parented several foster children and were surrogate parents to several other family members.
From an early age, he loved to sing and play the bass guitar. He was the lead tenor of several groups including the Golden Tones, Gospel Four, Trumpeteers, the Love of God Gospel singers, and the Anderson Family Gospel Singers. He recorded several records and ministered throughout Virginia and several other states.
Norvell was a kindhearted man who loved spending time with his family. He often shared his passion for traveling, fishing, and hunting with his children and those he loved. He looked forward to cooking a big breakfast for his brothers, sons, grandsons, and friends before their annual Thanksgiving Day hunt. He could not wait to go to Nags Head for the annual family fishing trip/vacation. He loved playing sports and supported his children and grandchildren in their sports and school activities. He was always their biggest cheerleader. Norvell rarely missed an event and they loved him being there. He would often sit around the table and loved to relive those moments.
Norvell was a great family historian and found joy sharing stories and jokes about his life and growing up on the hill. He touched many generations and loved spending time with his extended family members and often offered support and guidance.
Norvell shared a beautiful life with his wife, children, and grandchildren and all who knew him on this side of heaven. We look forward to seeing him on the other side of the river and walking with our Lord and Savior. He is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Mary Anderson and siblings Susie Lewis, Charlie Anderson, James Anderson, Mabel Anderson, Bertha Cobbs, Delois Hancock, and Dorothy Garland. He leaves to hold his memories his wife Kerine Anderson, sister Ann McCoy (Mitchell), three sons: Norvell Anderson Jr., Calvin Anderson (Jacqueline), Mauri Anderson (Mallory), two daughters: Angela Rose (Larry), and Stacy Anderson, 7 grandsons Lee Anderson (Myesha), Timmy Anderson (Summer), Marcus Rose, Cedric Anderson (Andrea), Corey Rose, Kirby Anderson, and Jaden Anderson, 4 granddaughters Robin Hunter, Kyla Rose, Mia Anderson, and Tia Anderson, 9 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends.
