Obituary

Norman William Jones of 162 Crabapple Lane, Amherst, departed this life after a brief illness on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 27, 1944 the son of Edith Page Jones and the late Colonel Jones. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Billy Jones. In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Olivia (Marie) Hilliard; two sons, Otis Douglas and Shaquille Thompson; seven brothers, Robert Jones of NJ, James, Samuel, Franklin, Larry all of Amherst, Earl (Lisa), and C. William "June" (Rejeana) of Maryland; seven sisters, Betty (Paul) Blair, of Washington, DC, Annie Moss, of Madison Heights, Mary (Aaron) Rucker, of Evington, Pauline Jones, Grenda (John) Wilkes, both of Lynchburg, Alberta Sandidge and Shirley Smith; a sister-in-law, Elsie Jones-Smith (Jasper) of Amherst; twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, five aunts, four uncles, two special friends, Mary Johnson and Cheryl Reid and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Coolwell with Rev. Linda Drummord, officiating and Rev. Charles Frye as Eulogist. The interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service and other times at the residence. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
