Nellie J. Pendleton, of Amherst passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Frances Strange Miles and the late Charlie Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Pendleton.
She is survived by eight children, five daughters, Patricia Rose (Gilbert), Deborah Goins (Ralph), Denise P. Carter (Kermit), Joan P. Wright (Ronnie) and Janis Pendleton (Wallace); three sons, John R. Pendleton, Joe L. Pendleton and James "Anthony" Pendleton; seven grandchildren, Gilbert Rose, Jr., Timothy Rose, Kristie Anderson, Steven Goins, Stacey Carter, Derrick Penn and Kayla Giles Hall; nine great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Marion Grooms, Shirley Reid and Christine Pendleton; one aunt Roselie Greene and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday December 23, 2015 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kelvin Brown, officiating. The interment will be in the Christian Aid Cemetery.
