Mother Josephine Word Waller slipped quietly from this world into the spiritual presence of her Savior on January 19, 2008. She was born in Halifax VA, March 17, 1920 to the late James and Callie Bennett Word. She was married to the late Joseph Paul Waller, to this union two children were born.
She was also preceded in death by a son Eugene Waller; a granddaughter, Valerie Lamar Jones; four sisters, Nannie Reed, Christine Glass, Louise Glass and Marie Word; two brothers, John Thomas Word and Isaac Word.
She is survived by one daughter, Ms. Lucille Waller Jones, of Lynchburg; nine grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Christine Waller Word, of Long Island, VA; a devoted niece, Eula Word as a well a host of other nieces and nephews.
A homegoing service will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Jesus Center of Refuge and Hope, Appomattox, VA with Minister James McDaniel and Elder Alfred L. Jones, III as Eulogist. The Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm Tuesday at Davis-Turner Funeral Service and other times at the residence of Ms. Lucille Waller Jones. The cortege will assemble at the funeral home at 12:45 pm, Wednesday.
