Jones

Michael Jones was called home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 16, 2022.
Born, November of 1954, to the late Cleveland D. Sr. and Aileen Jones of Monroe, Virginia. Mike was the 7 th of 11 children.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Erica, son, Craig, his grandson, Jordan and a special friend, Lisa Watts.
He joins his siblings in heaven Cleveland D. Jones, Jr. and Delores Jones Early. Surviving siblings, Barbara Gregg (Charles), Kenneth Jones (Wanda), George Jones (Amy), Brenda Jones (Ron), David Jones, Sylvia Jones-McCauley, Edith Jones and his baby sister "Mimi" Michele (Jones) Bell, along with many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Mike graduated from Corning Painted Post East High School, later attending Corning Community College and Cortland State.
A lover of sports, he excelled in basketball and track during his high school and college years. At one time he was known as one of the "Fantastic 4" within the basketball team. His favorite sport was basketball. His favorite teams were the Louisville Cardinals and The Baltimore Ravens. His favorite player was Lamar Jackson.
He was employed with Corning Inc. for a number of years before his professional career led him to a Management position with Ford Motor Company where he served over 23 years until his retirement.
He was filled with the spirit of generosity for his family and friends and was a lover of sports, country living, fishing, hiking and gardening.
Mike loved his children. He enjoyed his road trips with son, Craig, and the many adventures encountered along the way. He cherished his daughter, Erica, and the special bond they had for animals.
Mike had a loving relationship with his family, especially enjoying daily talks with his big sister, Barbara, and his visits with his brothers at our family home in Monroe, enjoying hiking, visiting the old home place in the mountains, shooting bow and arrows, fishing, talking/bantering/joking as brothers do, as well as their visits to Biscuitville and Woodruff Café.
As a young man Mike displayed his compassion by helping others within his community. He found his love of animals and artistry while working with Walt Young who taught him how to care for reptiles and other creatures. Walt's paintings inspired Mike, to dabble with his own talent creating his portrait of our sister, Delores.
We have great memories with Mike, including his Saturday mornings, recipes while watching monster movie matinee or listening to music. He loved life.
He will be forever cherished and loved by his family and friends.
