Mary Elizabeth Reid, affectionately known as Kizzy, Shirley, Nana, Granny, Liz, and Ms. Ruff and Tuff, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 7:34 PM in Lynchburg, VA. Liz was born on July 15, 1943, to the late William T. and Clara M. McCoy. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Lee Reid (Buck); her son, Wenzel Reid; daughter, Melba Jones; two sisters, Jackie Wilkerson (T.J.) and Teressa Rouff; and four brothers, William T. McCoy, Jr., Sylvester McCoy, Aaron McCoy, and Humphrey McCoy.

Liz attended Dunbar High School and then diligently worked as a seamstress at Blue Buckle and Joan and Jay. Other jobs that Liz held were at Duti-Duds, CVTC, and the U.S. Post office. Liz was very popular and well-known by many in the Madison Heights and Lynchburg communities. She took great delight in giving a nickname to everyone she met.

Liz lived her life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with her family. Even as her health declined, she remained very faithful, strong-willed, and in good spirits.

Liz is survived by her five sons, Henry Reid, Donald Reid (Kay), Percy Reid, Darryl Reid (Andrea), and Archie Lewis; two daughters, Vanessa Reid and Rhonda Nellums; three sisters, Darlene McCoy (Paul, aka, P Augusta D), Julia Wharton, and Clara Jones (Reverend Edward Jones); and two brothers, Theodore McCoy (Ted) and Fredrick McCoy (Fred).

Grandma Liz was blessed and honored to have many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and another great-grandson, Dalanta Omar Cardwell, Jr., due to arrive in December 2022. Liz also leaves to cherish her memories a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Two of her closest and dearest friends were Edna Younger of Madison Heights, VA, and Cora Townsend of Detroit, MI.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
