On Monday, March 13, 2023, the life of Mary A. Poindexter closed on earth and she began a beautiful new journey with God. Born on March 08, 1948, in Staunton, Virginia to the late Elizabeth Saunders and James Miller, Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Poindexter; her sister, Linda Randolph; and brother, James Miller, Jr.

Mrs. Mary was a faithful employee at Centra Health, retiring on February 20, 2020. She was also a faithful and dedicated member of Greater Brookville Baptist Church until her death. She loved God and was a humble and faithful servant. She also enjoyed talking to family and friends daily on her phone.

She was married to Claude Poindexter until his death. She is survived by 3 children, Dion Saunders of Staunton, Darrell Saunders, Sr. of Lynchburg, and Latoya Saunders (Reggie) of Lynchburg; 7 grandchildren, LaKeisha, Alexcia, Tysheem (Morgan), Darnetta, Darrell, Jr., Darion, and Dontae; 4 great-grandchildren, Bella, Blithe, Savannah, and Damyis; and one sister, Carolyn Pryor, of Delaware.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Greater Brookville Baptist Church. The family will have a visitation from 6-7 PM Friday, March 17, 2023, at Davis-Turner Funeral Service. Interment will be in Forest Hill Burial Park.
