Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, he will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die." John 11:25-26

Mary Frances Tweedy Cundiff, 92, of Evington, VA passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on November 10, 1931, to Elizabeth Calloway Tweedy and William Tweedy of Gladys, VA. Following graduation from Campbell County Training School in 1950, she went on to be a nanny in Norfolk, VA for the summer and after 20 years of employment, she retired from Archer Creek Foundry.

Following her return from Norfolk, Mary married the love of her life Mr. James I. Cundiff, Sr. on December 23rd of the same year. They went on to have two sons, Mr. James I Cundiff, Jr. and Mr. Dennis L. Cundiff (whom all preceded her in death).

Her hobbies included cooking for her family, quilting, alterations, dress, and hat making but what she enjoyed most was sharing the "good news".

She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at Grace Baptist Church. There she enjoyed holding several positions to include Mother of the Church, teaching and expounding on the word of God until her health declined. Mrs. Cundiff was also an active participant at Mt. Evergreen Baptist Church after her union to Mr. Cundiff.

She leaves to cherish her beloved memory, daughter-in-love, Alfreda Bennett Cundiff of Lynchburg, VA; five granddaughters, Victoria Canada of Evington, VA, Latoria Sanders Potts (Jacotron) of Charlotte, NC, Vinetta Cundiff Poindexter of Lynchburg, VA, Senior Chief Petty Officer, Valinda Cundiff Lewis of Norfolk, VA, and Vonda Cundiff Casto of Lynchburg, VA. Seven great-grandchildren: Petty Officer Second Class, Vashon James I. Cundiff, Cameron Potts, Diamond N. Cundiff, Jahvon A. Lewis, Jermale A. Poindexter, Jr., Xavier Poindexter, and Selena J. Lewis; sister-in-law, Sharon Hillman; devoted niece, Sherry Richburg; nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 04, 2024, at Mt. Evergreen Baptist Church. Mrs. Cundiff will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
