During the morning hours on Friday, February 05, 2021, Margaret S. Horsley, departed this life after 63 years. She was born in Amherst County on August 09, 1957 to the late George H. and Annie B. Smith.

At an early age Margaret joined Timothy Baptist Church. She worked faithfully until her health declined. She was a member of the usher board, senior choir, youth choir, and the hospitality committee.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George M. Horsley; sisters, Alice Pannell and Susan Mathis; brothers, George T. Smith and Robert E. Smith; brothers-in-laws, Jessie Horsley and Robert Richardson; and mother and father-in-law, Mrs. Betty Horsley and Clayton Horsley, whom she loved dearly.

She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted niece, Tarsha Horsley; great-niece, Jaylai Carthorne; great-nephew, J.D. Carthorne of Lynchburg, VA; two stepdaughters, Michelle Wright and Alma Wright both of Lynchburg, VA; and one stepson, Melvin Rucker, of Newport News, VA.

She is also survived by her two sisters, Jacqueline D. Richardson of Madison Heights, VA and Annie Smith of Washington, DC; special niece, Juliana Smith of Lynchburg, VA; one aunt, Bernice Smith of New Jersey; sisters-in-laws, Phyllis Wright (Jerome), Joanne Horsley, Sheila Horsley, Betty Horsley and  Sheila Horsley, all of Lynchburg, VA; brothers-in-laws, Acie Pannell of West Virginia, Eddie Waugh, Lewis Waugh (Valencia Jackson), Paul Horsley, and Wayne Horsley all of Lynchburg, VA; a devoted niece, Tenesia Horsley; devoted best friend, Linda Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
