On Saturday, January 20, 2024, God sent down his angels for Manley Ferguson, Sr. of Concord, VA. Manley was born on May 16, 1930, in Appomattox, VA the son of the late OK and the late Nannie McCoy Ferguson. He was the husband of the late Margaret Reed Ferguson.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Horace "Mac" Ferguson, Warren Ferguson, Lester Ferguson and sisters, Eppsie F. Woodson, Eunice F. Henderson, Hazel F. Ferguson, Bernice F. Madison, Eleanor F. Davis, and Sadie F. Wooding.

Manley was baptized at an early age and joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Concord, VA where he served faithfully as a trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, and member until his health began to fail. He often attended Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church, Spout Spring, VA with his wife and family.

Manley was a friend to everyone. Most often seen with a smile upon his face and a twinkle of laughter in his eye. Pa, as his grandchildren called him, Uncle Manley to his many nieces and nephews, was an encouraging family leader who was known for giving good advice and direction. Manley retired from Lynchburg Foundry after many years of dedicated work. He was also actively involved with the Appomattox Democratic Party and was a poll worker for the Stonewall District for many years.

Manley and Margaret were the loving parents of one daughter, the late Rowena Robinson (the late Stewart) and one son, Manley Ferguson, Jr. (Vanessa) all of Concord, VA; five grandchildren, Lequetta Robinson Hayes (Howard) of Madison Heights, VA; Dr. Kristy Robinson-Lee (Clyde) of Evington, VA; Judge Karen R. Robinson of Charlottesville, VA; Manley Ferguson, III, and Denise S. Ferguson both of Concord, VA. Devoted nieces, Geneva R. Napier of Spout Spring, VA, and Jo Ann Mosley (Gerald) of Concord, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special thanks to Amedysis Hospice and caregivers, Denine Wheeler, Josephine Mosley, Debbie Hodge, and Terri Martin.

A homegoing celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Concord, VA. Interment will be in the Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. Service of comfort rendered by Davis-Turner Funeral Service.
